Non-dues Revenue at International Convention

The Non-dues Revenue Committee has been preparing an exciting workshop for members at the International Convention in New Orleans this summer. Mark your DKG app or star your convention program to attend this informative entertaining workshop on Wednesday, July 13th at 2:45pm.

Non-dues revenue is exactly that… money that is generated through a variety of sources, other than dues, to serve members and benefit the Society. Attendees will participate in a fun Jeopardy game to learn about different insurance resources, business discounts and educational tours with other DKG members.

At the end, there will be a question and answer time and members can share what is happening in chapters, states and at international to help with fundraising. Hope you will be able to attend and learn about non-dues revenue.

Let the Good Times Roll!!

That is what will be happening on July 12-16 in New Orleans, Louisiana at the 2022 DKG International Convention.  Come join us at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel on Canal Street just steps away from the New Orleans’ French Quarter.  Come to the convention for good times, wonderful fellowship, great workshops, amazing speakers, and much, much more as we connect and collaborate with members from all over the world.  What an exciting time! Looking so forward to seeing everyone. Hint: a 2nd line performance may happen and a trip to the Mardi Gras World and Grand Oaks Mansion (limited to 400 members) is planned. 

After the meetings, ride a trolley down Canal Street and/or eat some beignets at Café DuMonde. Spend some of your free time at the National World War II Museum on Magazine Street. Walk around the French Quarter and shop at the French Market.  Please don’t forget to visit the Audubon Aquarium of Americas located adjacent to the French Quarter. There are just so many things to do in New Orleans. Hope there is time to visit all of these places while we are there! 
 
Start now talking to your members about coming to New Orleans in July.  Bring a big group from your chapter to the convention. Meet sisters from all over the world.  Connections made here will last forever. Check the DKG website (www.dkg.org) for information about registration. 
 
Also, there is a Go Ahead Tour planned after the convention –The American South:  New Orleans to Memphis.

Have Suitcase, Will Travel!

 

If you are heading to New Orleans for the international convention, why not consider extending your stay and taking part in the next Go Ahead Tour? You can let the good times roll or one might hear in NOLA Laissez les bons temps rouler!

DKG and Go Ahead Tours is offering a tour of the American South, from New Orleans to Memphis, following the convention. Included highlights are the French Quarter, Antebellum Natchez, Vicksburg National Military Park, a steamboat river cruise, and a Louisiana Bayou Tour. An optional excursion to Graceland and Sun Studios is also available.

Fundraising Opportunity, Anyone?

 

The excitement is building for the 2022 International Convention in New Orleans, July 12-16. There will be so much to see and do, including the Marketplace with all of its treasures. Have you considered the possibility of taking advantage of the Marketplace as a way to raise non-dues revenue for your state organization or chapter? Having a vendor table to sell items can be a great way to fund a project or supplement your budget. You may even know of a company or other organization that would be interested in being a vendor. The Marketplace will be open July 14 and 15. Details can be found at dkg.org > Events > 2022 Convention > Vendor/Exhibitor Application. The deadline is April 15, so make your plans and apply!

In the past few months, the Non-dues Revenue Committee has informed you about the possibilities that DKG membership offers in terms of discounts and other benefits, or where your purchase can benefit DKG.

We are sure that you as chapter members have successfully implemented a lot of ideas with which you could raise money for your chapter work, for projects or support measures.

2022 DKG International Convention Marketplace

The 2022 International Convention at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel will provide a Marketplace for attendees. DKG members enjoy shopping and like to take home treasures. 

What a great opportunity for state organizations and chapters to fund scholarships, projects, leadership training, and special events! Items should include products of high quality and may be advertised in state or chapter newsletters or brochures. Examples of products from some of the state organization and chapter vendors are notecards, name badges, handmade jewelry, scarves, luggage tags, books, and DKG branded items.  As an affiliate, the state organizations and chapters receive a discount for their marketplace table.

The Marketplace will be open during the convention on Thursday, July 14 and Friday, July 15 with security provided. Applications for being a state organization, chapter, or commercial vendor or exhibitor are available on the dkg.org website. Those who plan to demonstrate or display without selling items should select exhibitor on the application form. 

        The deadline for submitting the application is April 15, 2022. All vendor and exhibitor applications must be approved by the Administrative Board. There will be a limited number of vendors, so don’t delay applying if you are interested.

Update on International Conferences

    This past summer, international conferences were held in Portland, Oregon, and San Antonio, Texas. Members attended in-person and virtually, learned from many speakers and presenters, and experienced fellowship with other DKG members.

    During each of the conferences, the International Non-dues Revenue Committee presented a workshop session describing non-dues revenue, duties of the committee, and member benefits such as insurance resources, discounts, and Go Ahead Tours. They also shared possible ways chapters and state organizations can fundraise. A question-and-answer segment helped many members understand the concept of non-dues revenue.     At the 2022 International Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana, the committee plans to present another interactive workshop to give members ideas on how to fundraise and increase future benefits. Suggestions of additional businesses and benefits for the committee to investigate can be submitted in this blog response.

Future Benefits

The International Non-dues Revenue Committee has posted different benefits for members on the DKG website. With the exceptions of Go Ahead Tours and Award Concepts, most of the existing benefits are available only to members in the United States. Therefore, the committee is looking for resources and benefits for all members. For instance, Amazon is operating worldwide, and members in some countries can support DKG by choosing AmazonSmile and selecting DKG International Educators Foundation to help support programs.

Maybe you have ideas, needs, or desires regarding businesses with possible benefits or discounts? Pet Insurance: One More Perk of DKG Membership

DKG members who have furry or purry family members can take advantage of a special benefit to protect their pets. As a DKG member, you can save on a pet insurance policy through the VPI Pet Insurance program. Coverage for dogs, cats, birds, and even exotic pets is offered through this nationwide company. A variety of plans are available with different areas of coverage, different deductible levels, and different reimbursement rates. Select coverage based on your needs. The pandemic has given travel a different dimension. Many of us have been dreaming for over a year about travel. With vaccinations, our confidence grows. We will be able to travel again in the foreseeable future, and most of us are starting to plan where and when we will be traveling.
